What better way to spend a Hot & Sunny Sunday than selling cupcakes all in aid of a worthy cause :-)
The Crosfield Community Centre, in Liverpool is a charity that runs activities such as Parents & Toddler Groups designed to support lonely and single parents; Health & Fitness classes; a unique Football Academy designed to build character in young people; Counselling Sessions; an After-School Club; an Art School; Music Training; Free Meals during festive seasons, and other community group/activities targeted at building community cohesion.
In order to run the centre, high overhead costs are involved including rent. So in a bid to reduce these running costs, so that the Centre’s aforementioned objectives aren’t disrupted, the opportunity to purchase the building has arisen and an outstanding balance of £60k is required by the end of June 2018 (this month) to complete the sale…
To show our support, Dee’s Cakes n Bakes were present amongst other Car Boot Sellers, armed with 82 cupcakes in 4 different flavours and a Beach Inspired Buttercream Cake Prize for our Raffle Ticket Winner.
It was thrilling to see that, the minute before our cupcake boxes hit our allocated sales table, we already had people crying out and ready to purchase our scrummy cupcakes. Zingy Lemon, Bright-eyed Coffee & Walnut, Cheeky Chocolate & Vibrant Vanilla Cupcakes adorned our stand.
From toddlers to grandparents, we literally saw the cupcakes fly off the table in boxes of 4s and 6s, and by the end of the Car Boot Sale, we called on the Leader of the Centre to assist in picking the raffle winner. The crowd were super excited, and the winner was drawn and immediately contacted to come to pick his prize. 12 consolation cupcake prizes went to the 12 subsequent and very enthusiastic ticket holders that were drawn.
By the end of the afternoon, we had raised £178. A huge thank you to the team at Dees Cakes n Bakes and most especially to all who purchased cupcakes and tickets. Finally thank you to the Leader of the Crosfield Community Centre, for giving us the opportunity to be a little part of such a noble cause.
